just had my OSCE for opthalmology..and the last qn...sigh...the pic showed retinal detachment..but my doctor told us whatever we are seeing are artefacts..look at the most obvious thing..oh well..thot i saw a cherry red spot...and got the whole qn wrong...damn...luckily i'm not the only one...got shuling too...hee...
opthalmology posting is quite fun..started the posting hating it...but ended the posting liking...this may be my future ah...=)

The Guide to Girls
Guys being guys have a common past time. Thats to comment on girls. When some female saunters past, a guy might remark to a friend, "Hey, how would you grade her upon 10?''
The answer might be....ermm..difficult to decipher. I mean so what if you give a girl a 7? Its better than a 6 and lousier that a 8. But thats that. It doesnt reflect how you really regard her. Although it has been the de facto manner in which we grade them, a change is needed.
So the three of us came up with a good classification. Its easy to remember and very very practical. Use it and see how it works to your advantage. Finally you will understand your friend what he is talking about when he grades someone a particular way. No more misunderstandings.
Its called the PVB version 1. It has 4 grades. Each grade has a word or a phrase to capture the meaning of the grade. It sums up what constitutes the grade. And here we are evaluating the girl as a total package, not just her character or looks...but overall. Its simpler.
Grade 1: WOW!
the girl is simply wow
Grade 2: Can lah
True to the Singaporean lingo...when someone asks you how is she, well.....can lah
Grade 3: Never unless given money
You would NEVER consider her...unless money is offered to you and you dont mind putting up with her for some cold hard cash.
Grade 4: Are you sure you got the right person?
Your friend is blind or he has poor taste. Alternatively you got him wrong and figured he is pointing to someone when in fact he is pointing to someone else who would score better. So recheck with him.
This is the way it should be done.

feeling super sian now..another 2 week posting..going all the way to TTSH..sigh..and have to use opthalmoscopes..argg..i can never close my left eye and look using my right eye..sian..that means when i examine a young female patient's right eye..i have to use my left eye..and i hope my mouth won't do anything stupid..heh..shall train using my right eye...
this weekend zoomed past..all thanx to the diabetic seminar..heh..did learn some things..but then again..my precious weekend..anyway..i always do nothing during weekends..
christmas coming..how fast..wonder our CG can celebrate..miss tiramisu suggested dressing up as a christmas tree and von suggested dressing up as a present..heh..dunno why girls always have funny thoughts..imaging the person doesn't drive..then he has to take bus..wearing like a tree..heh..and that might be me..damn..

End of hols
had a 3 day hols over the weekend..was surfing constantly at our blog..but it's still empty..didn't want this blog to die off..so shall write sth now..heh
attended von's cousin's wedding on sun..it's so exciting..heh..next yr will be my cousin's wedding in Ritz Carlton..WOW! haha..$1000 per table..cool ah..my wedding will be in a coffee shop..$100 per table..
last week of anasthesia..quite liked this posting..get to do many procedures..never knew i can intubate a person..haha..vocal cords looked so cool..inverted V...yeah

An interesting day
Yesterday was the first day of Anaesthesia in CGH. But it was very weird for me man
The whole day....from beginning to end was just very funny.
1) I and Vin brought our bags to the changing room. We were finding a place to put it safely. I decided to put it ABOVE the lockers. As i did......as i placed it above...and released my grip on it....it plunged all the WAY DOWN! There was a bloody hollow up there. I was stunned for a moment. Then just to make sure and find out if I could retrieve it..I CLIMBED onto the lockers (there was space between the top and the ceiling) but the hole was too deep.
Then a doctor came in and saw what the hell I was doing. After explaining..he started laughing and asked Vin if he had a camera phone...so that a picture of me could be taken for future memories of what stupid things medical students do.
Told Shuling of the incident and she started laughing like crazy. She even said...i could have fallen in.......and would have been a stuck medical student.
In the end..during the break..i called CHG MAINTENANCE....to retrieve by bag. They fished it out using a long pole.
2) Meet Dr Tong (orthopaedics tutor who took us on friday mornings) in the changing room. He asked me if I celebrated Deepavali and I said yes. He then reprimanded me for wasting my time in the hospital and I should be at home celebrating. He even said why am I wasting my time is such a rubbish course. Really! He kept insisting that I should go home.
Bumped into him in the OT with me anaesthesia tutor. He asked me why I was still there and even told my anaesthesia tutor to let me off! Crazy fella.
3) Meet my orthopaedic examination tester in the changing room. Mr Lingaraj. He asked me, "So how did you do for orthopaedics in the end". Damn. The way he asked me felt as if my clinical test wasnt fantastic and he wanted to know if I faired better overall. Shit.
4) Meeting people in the changing room is damn weird. You talk to them as you change. Anyway..I meet Pang Jing Yin's brother in the changing room also. He recognised me after having been to his house to celebrate his sister's birthday. He is very nice and friendly. I wonder what happened to Jing Yin.
5) So was eating in my all time favourite restaurant, Alforno's, for dinner. Was whacking away with my family. I think all the exercise gone to waste. Then I saw this guy coming through the door! My god. He looked the same. He behaved the same. He walked the same. He was VASANT. Good old Vasant from VJC. Had a nice chat with him. He is in NTU, doing computer engineering. Never realised he stayed so near me. Although he acts weird alittle and people were reluctant to be associated with him in JC, thankfully I did not do the same. Will meet up with him soon.

Exercising Time!
Yes..my body is aching all over and i deserved it..for the past 1 month..posting was quite relaxing..so i decided to be more enthu in exercising..tennis..swimming..jogging..weights..now decided to join a fitness club..so went to Planet Fitness yest thanx to the free 7-days pass..
reached suntec at 5.40pm..was quite excited..my med frenz incl pin and vin went with me..heh..as i walked into the club..i wasn't that impressed coz i have been to California Fitness..HOWEVER..the view in Planet Fitness is DEFINITELY better than california fitness..i can see Wendy's house..goodness..my frenz even commented that wendy can run on the threadmill and have the feeling of running home..
tried TBT..(thigh, butts and tummy)..haha..stood beside wendy and shuling..the warm up was not too bad..then we tried the thighs..wow..try standing and cross your right leg over your left..then bend your knees in double time..yes..SHIOK! the abs part was worse..shall not talk bout it..
then tried the weights and finally..HIP HOP DANCE class..don't laugh..vin and bin can dance ah..pin retired due to over-exhaustion..(haha)..he had something on..anyway..vin, bin, von and wen decided to dance..the warm up is like dancing ballet..haha..i look like a clown..anyway..dancing is definitely not my forte..but well..i survived..
tm is anasthesia..quite scary..one on one with the tutor..wonder what to say to him..but can look forward to the night..becoz i'm going to the GYM again! yeah..building up my body so that next yr can volunteer to do shoulder examination.."bleah"

well..this blog is 2 weeks old..heh..we started it on the day before patho posting started. so fast the posting ended..really gain a lot of experience thru this posting..although it was quite slack..haha
tm is the start of a brand new posting..going to AH..yes..ahhhhh...heh..quite like the place as the answer is obvious..it only takes me 10 min to stroll to AH..5min to brisk walk to AH..heh..
this weekend had been quite boring..as usual..spent the whole morning of Sat doing the patho write up..at least noon was more fun..played tennis with von..(yes..only 2 of us)..well..on sun..spent the whole day slacking ard..went to wisma at 6pm..hoping to win the KIA car..but in the end..the person called...YVONNE tan...damn..life sux rite..
anyway..looking forward to tm..going to planet to exercise..haha..supposed to go california..heh..but it's really quite expensive..considering the fact that i have a gym at home..everyone is the same..including me! heh..when i mentioned going to california to exercise and the monthly fee is more than $50..everyone said NO..but when von mentioned planet has free passes..everyone including me said YES! haha..from 2 ppl..now there are 10 ppl going to planet tm..haha..the power of the word FREE! heh...

MY SECOND ENTRY
Hello everybody!!! It’s been quite some time since I’ve first posted my msg. So paiseh... Had been really busy with all sorts of stuff like what Bin has mentioned.
Anyway, spent the evening and night yesterday celebrating Greencraft’s birthday with a bunch of my beloved choir pals (including Gzai, spinkypinkie and Aki). Was very happy to hear that Greencraft was also very glad.
TODAY was a life-changing day for me. I was baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Church of Our Saviour at ard 6.40pm this evening.

Haha..this is so interesting..was just telling wendy that i no longer enjoy Singapore Idol..and guess wat..i really enjoyed it tonight..all becoz of this guy above..yes..he's a Malay..haha..i think he's absolutely superb..after hearing his interpretation of "let's stay together"..wonder if someone will upload in Ares..heh..
This is wierd..wat happened to pin and vin? This posting is supposed to be quite slack..and i'm almost doing nothing everyday..even watched the Man U match last nite..talking bout the match..it was so exciting..in the end i only slept for 3 hrs last nite..heh..Ruud scored 4 goals!!
Went to the court today..not "Courts"! yup..it's a coroner's court..my first time entering a court..and i even get to meet the judge..and guess wat..we ate lunch with him..courtesy of pin..heh..and he treated us to the "butterfly fritters"..love it..so nice..feeling a bit heaty now..
tm's the last day going to the mortuary..well..learnt a lot..in terms of experiences..will cherish life more than before..ok..enough of rubbish...bye guys...

Yeah! so happy..becoz i finally have home-networking in my home..heh..well..i know..i'm so slow rite? but doesn't matter..becoz i can finally use internet with just a card inserted in my laptop..and i can surf net anyway..in my room..my living room..kitchen...toilet..balcony..even in my swimming pool area..haha...cool man...
today is an interesting day..in fact..one of the most interesting days after i started clinical postings in Yr 3..it's really an eye-opening for me visit the mortuary in SGH..well i have been to the mortuary in CGH..but the one in SGH is really hugh..well..watched an autopsy..sigh..and saddest thing is i don't feel as sad anymore compared to my first dissection in Yr 1..someone once told me that medicine will be very sad when the doctors become immune to death..well..really hope that doesn't happen to me..and the rest of the doctors..
pathology is really very chiem..i don't think i'm smart enough to be one..so don't think i'll ever be a pathologist..
time to go and relax..surf net and slack..next week is anasthesia posting...well...=)
