First OBGYN Night Call
Night call yesterday night and this morning was not too bad. Managed to see the delivery of a Malay baby boy. Cute chubby lad who looks a lot like his daddy. Then I thought back and realised how terrible it must have been for my mum to have me for 9 months… =PBut there was something else which disturbed me quite a bit. There was this lady who aborted her baby cos she discovered some chromosomal abnormality in her baby during amniocentesis. This abnormality is supposedly to be associated with microcephaly (for the not-so-medically-inclined, it simply means ‘small head’) and mental retardation.
The thing that bothered me was… is it right for her to terminate a life just like that?
Would be doing night call again this Sunday. Hopefully more new lives can come into this world. =)
