I Dunno How To Brush My Teeth
Right… You din read the title wrongly. I really have no idea how to brush my teeth nowadays. Went to see my dentist for the usual bi-annual scaling and polishing on Wed. Fortunately, there was nothing much other than some calculus on the teeth. No caries or whatsoever. Then at the end of the session, my dentist told me, “Your gums are receding quite badly leh. It is really considered severe for a 23-year-old. I would advise you to use less force when you brush your teeth otherwise you’ll need to do a gum graft. You noe, gum tissues dun grow back one.” For the medically-inclined ppl, a gum graft is something like a muscle flap. Basically you slice the gum into half (longitudinally) then flip it over to make the gums look “higher”. After listening to what he said, I began to wonder to myself, how am I supposed to noe how many Newtons I need to apply on my teeth and gums? Must I use a spring balance or something to measure it before I press the SOFT toothbrush on my gums?? And if I were to brush lightly, would that be able to remove the tartar effectively? Sigh… People have receding HAIRlines, I have a receding GUMline...That aside, this week has been a rather interesting one. Went for the JJ 音乐创作分享会 with Spinkypinkie at Ngee Ann Poly Convention Centre on Tues. Oh yah, thanks Aki for the ticket! Anyway, the event was supposed to start at 6.30pm and we were told to be seated by 6pm. Spinkypinkie and I wanted to get good seats so we decided to go there earlier. When we arrived at NP, we began our furious search for the Convention Centre! We were like 2 old sua-kus going round the campus. Haha… We decided to leave the main road and go into the building proper. Walked up a few flight of staircases and down a few, then lo and behold, we arrived at the road that led to the Convention Centre! When I looked down that road, I realised it was linked directly to the main road. We could have just kept to the main road and we’ll prob reach there a bit earlier! Heh…
Anyway, by the time we reached there, it was abt 5.20pm and there already was a serpentine queue outside the entrance! And we thought we were quite early liao. In any case, we gingerly joined the queue and then began to keep ourselves occupied by discussing how much NP looks like mini-NUS and what it would have been like if we hadn’t gone to VJ but went to a Polytechnic instead. All of a sudden we felt so mature among the bunch of school kids! Talking about such serious topics as though we’ve been through a lot. Haha… I was telling Spinkypinkie we’d already gone past that stage and we are in a different phase now. Dunno whether we should be sad or happy. Haha… Gradually we got bored and started to stone on the spot (the queue was not moving) and Spinkypinkie started to SMS-chat with Aki and report to her about our situation there.
But the event didn’t start on time!!! By 6.30pm, we were STILL in the serpentine queue outside the entrance and have listened to at least 2 rounds of JJ’s newest album. =P Poor time management… Tsk tsk… Luckily, the ushers began to file us into the Auditorium at abt 7pm. My! The auditorium is HUGE. There were at least 40 rows of seats and it was steeply-sloped so that everyone can have a clear view of the stage. Soon everyone was in and the concert started! Screams, yells, camera flashes filled the auditorium as JJ walked out and started singing 一千年以后. Wah… His live singing is good man… The pitching was perfect and he looked so natural on stage! Haha… I shan’t describe the entire event here cos it’ll be really lengthy. All in all, we (or rather, JJ and the fans ardent enough to go on stage) played a few games, watched a few MVs and asked a few silly questions. Then the highlight of the event came! JJ 自弹自唱 a few of his songs, like 简简单单, 莎士比亚的天份 and 江南. Both Spinkypinkie and I were really amazed that he only needed to take occasional glances at the keyboard to check his fingering when he was playing the songs! Then he also sang 被风吹过的夏天 (live) with his 师妹金莎. So nice!!! He’s really talented and for an ex-ACS boy, his Mandarin is very good! Much better than some of the Dunmanians I noe. Haha…
Anyway, at the end of the 2.5-hour event, Spinkypinkie and I quickly ambled out of the auditorium to avoid the crowd as all the fans rush down to the stage for the autograph session. Will look forward to Spinkypinkie’s reporting of that night’s event! Hehe…
Stayed out quite late on both Tues (cos of the JJ showcase) and Wed (cos of cell), so I had to stay at home on Thurs to “show face” to my mum. Heh…
On Friday, I went down to the new National Library! The whole building is humungous! The Central Lending Library is at Basement One and you can find many different kinds of books here. The English Fiction books were separated from the Non-Fiction ones by this mini garden which has a bit of the Japanese feel. Then the area next to the Non-Fiction area is devoted to Business and Finance books and books of the Creative and Literary Arts. This is one section which I thought the collection of books was quite good. Then next to this is the Chinese section and then the magazines/newspapers/Singapore Collection area. The Children’s section is also at this level and is just behind the Chinese section. Well I have to agree that it is truly convenient to be able to find all the books you want in one level. But considering that you have to divide out the limited space for SO many sections, it would also mean that the selection would be compromised. =P Which is why I only managed to borrow ONE book on word and phrase origins after scanning the shelves for dunno how long.
Din really have time to venture into the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library cos gotta meet my CG ppl for buffet dinner at Kublai Khan. Spinkypinkie and I are in the process of arranging a trip down with the choir ppl on 29th! Hehe…
I shan’t talk abt the buffet cos Bin has already blogged it. Paiseh paiseh for this super-duper loooooooooooong entry! I’d stop here liao.
P.S. The third instalment of PS Quiz is on the way! And Kelly and Derrick got in! Haha… Oh, Belief In Life, I’ve read your comment and I’m not sure how true it is yeah… Gotta trace the source and check if it’s from some malicious person who is spreading rumours about him or whether it’s from a close person who really noes him. =) I’ll take it with a pinch of salt at the moment.;-) *Ugh, so salty…*
2 Comments:
my life revolves around Jue Dui Superstar now, so i wun comment about yr other outing about other stars (how can there b other stars other than those in the competition?) *I am kidding.*
i refuse to believe any -ve rumours about DERRICK. after he sang Hen Xiang Ni (which was orginally sang by who?), i fell in luv with him all over again. his eyes, his smile, his voice...haha..=)
Ha ha... The original singer of that song was Z Chen. Smart choice he made! His voice (esp the higher notes) really do sound like Z Chen's ones sometimes.
Anyway, thought you might want to get next week's copy of I-weekly, cos the 2 of them (Derrick and Kelly) would be on the cover. =)
